NIK Grier is desperate to help Rochford Hundred get back to winning ways against high-flying Cantabrigian.

Hundred head into the game just one place and one point above the London Two North East relegation zone.

But Grier is keen to upset the form book.

“It’s a very important game this weekend,” said Grier.

“We need a win and we also feel as though we owe Cantabrigian one after what happened earlier on in the season.

“We lost there narrowly and felt massively disappointed because it was a game we should have won.

“That can give us confidence for the weekend but we need to play for the full 80 minutes if we’re going to beat them.

“And we also need to stop giving away silly penalties.”

Rochford have been beaten in three of their last four games but Grier remains disappointed by their latest setback.

Hundred were seen off 23-22 by relegation rivals Ipswich and Grier, who scored twice in the defeat, felt poor discipline was ultimately to blame.

“Last weekend at Ipswich was very frustrating,” said Grier.

“We had all the possession but a few silly penalties gave them a way back into the game again.

“We also let their big eight bully us.”

Ipswich, who occupy the final relegation position, are now just a point ninth placed Rochford.

But Grier believes Hundred will soon start to work their way up the standings.

“I’m very confident we will climb the table,” said Grier.

“We need to cut out the silly penalties “It will be a physical game and one for the forwards so we need to be on top of our game this weekend.”

Cantabrigian head into the clash third in the table with just four defeats in 13 matches so far this season.
