FLY-HALF Jack Jones will be out to help Westcliff get their season back on track when they travel to Westcombe Park this weekend.

Westcliff have endured a disjointed start to the new year, losing both of their games to have survived the cold weather.

And Jones is keen for Westcliff to return to winning ways in tomorrow’s National Three London & SE clash.

“What we need to focus on is building on the good and correcting the bad,” said Jones.

“Numbers at training have been a lot better so we are able to really put the work in and hopefully we will see the reward in the coming weeks.

“There is always the element of losing some rhythm when you prepare for games and at the last minute they get called off but you just have to get on with it.”

Westcliff - who sit 10th in the table - ended 2016 in fine fashion with five wins in seven games.

But Jones always expected it to be tough to continue the impressive run of results after Christmas.

“We always knew we had a tough start to the new year and Wimbledon, who we played last week, are a good outfit who will be fighting until the end of the season for promotion no doubt,” said Jones.

“But the frustrating part for us was our penalty count.”

And Jones is now seeking an improved display against third placed Westcombe Park this weekend.

“Westcombe Park are a good side but we will take confidence from our game against them at the beginning of the season and look to put some pressure on,” said Jones.

“We know it’s hugely important to get some points from this game.”
