WESTCLIFF skipper Harry Branch is expecting a big reaction from his side when they host Guildford in National Three London & SE tomorrow.

Westcliff have slipped to 11th in the standings after suffering three defeats in succession.

But scrum half Branch is keen for Westcliff to get back on track this weekend.

“I’m expecting a reaction from the boys on Saturday,” said Branch.

“Playing against the top three teams in the league back-to-back was always going to be a big ask but we have learnt a lot in those matches so I’m sure we will be getting the result we need tomorrow.”

Westcliff head into the game sitting 11th in the table, one place and nine points clear of Southend who currently occupy the final relegation position.

Westcliff also have a game in hand on their local rivals.

But they will be looking to follow in Southend’s footsteps this weekend, with Guildford seen off 24-20 by the Saxons last weekend.

And Branch believes Westcliff can secure a similar result if they stick to their game plan.

“Guildford are a targeted team for us in our next block of four games,” said Branch.

“I’m expecting them to have a heavy but slow forward pack so our front five need to be outworking them.

“We’re going into the next block of games looking to react from what’s happened.

“The last three have been completed but we want to bounce back.

“Our motivation is to get back into our way of playing and start getting the results we want, beginning with Guildford on Saturday.”
