ROCHFORD Hundred secured a third win in succession, beating Woodford 15-8 at Magnolia Road.

The victory moved Rochford up to sixth in the London Two North East standings and delighted their first team manager Graham Pratt.

“It was a very good team performance,” said Pratt.

“There were a number of excellent individual efforts but every player played their part and can take credit for another good result.

“There was actually a time in the morning when the match was in doubt due to the weather but thank goodness from our point of view that it did go ahead to achieve a result that we worked so hard for and we showed grit and determination required to get it.

“It was a deserved victory which probably could have been by more points such was our dominance in so many aspects of the game.

“But we were happy enough to record this win especially after our previous outing against Woodford earlier in the season when we let ourselves down on the day.”

Rochford - who announced Chris Green as their new director of rugby on the eve of the game - began brightly and went in front when impressive flanker Louis Warner broke free to storm up the pitch to score under the posts.

Matt Stewart added the two points and for most of the first half it was all Rochford dominating possession and territory.

Only good Woodford defence and some slack finishing kept the scoreboard the same until late in the half when Woodford opened their account with a well taken drop goal to reduce the deficit to 7-3 at the turn round.

After the break, Woodford also scored a try which put them one point ahead and they continued to take the game to Rochford.

But Hundred’s scrum continued to dominate and they pushed hard for another score which came in the form of Stewart who finished off a great catch and drive move from the line out as he collected a pass from Steven Jay to score.

Stewart then also added a penalty to make sure of Rochford’s victory.
