SOUTH Woodham Ferrers host title rivals Diss in a mouth-watering top of the table clash in London Two North East tomorrow.

Second placed Woodham are just one point behind the leaders.

And their head coach Tony Woods cannot wait for the game to get underway, following a narrow defeat in the reverse fixture.

“I am really looking forward to the game,” said Woods.

“When we travelled to Diss we just missed out after 80 minutes of putting them under pressure and forcing errors.

“They were pleased to come off the pitch at the final whistle and no other side have picked up two bonus points at Diss all season.

“Their home record speaks for itself but hopefully the result will be in our favour this time as we push forward to what has turned out to be a very successful season and an enjoyable year.

“Our defence all season has been great but the points difference, especially at home has been exceptional.

“The extra pre-season the boys put in has also made a difference.”

The winner of this weekend’s clash will go into the remaining five games of the season as the favourites to win the league.

And Woodham head into the game with a fully-fit squad.

Lewis Gilbert, Sammy Sharp and John Murphy are all back in contention after recovering from injuries while David Bull, Ryan Marshall, Ryan Gateson, Joe Dukelow and James Wilson have also returned after being unavailable last weekend.

And first team manager Jack Kershaw says there is no hiding the importance of the encounter.

“It is obviously a huge game for both sides,” said Kershaw “The winner will be favourites to go on to win the league.

“The players are well up for this which has been shown in our training sessions on Tuesday and Thursday and it is great to have everyone back fit and available.

“The club is a great place to be at the moment, with support from the local community and some new sponsors being welcomed this weekend.

“On Saturday we’re expecting a big crowd, with a large travelling support from Diss.

“The RFU are also sending down assistant referees which is unheard of at this league level normally and the whole club is getting right behind us.

“I personally can’t wait for Saturday and if the 18 lads do what I know they are capable of then I’m sure we will all be smiling at the end of the 80 minutes.

“But this is a game which could define our season.”

The match kicks off at 2.30pm.
