THURROCK’S director of rugby Dean White expects the club to be buzzing for this weekend’s clash with Saffron Walden.

T’s head into the game sitting sixth in the London One North standings, one place and two points behind this weekend’s visitors.

And White cannot wait for the game to get underway.

“We are really looking forward to Saturday’s game,” said White.

“We have a massive VP lunch on before the game with 160 people sitting down and we have 16 ex-captains coming for the day.

“As well as that, 23 people are going to be given caps for playing 100 or more games for the club so we will be looking to put a great performance in on the day.

“We have been training hard over the last few weeks.

“Saffron Walden are directly below us in the league and we want to open that gap up.

“The players are excited and the club should be buzzing.”

Both sides ended three match losing streaks last time out with Thurrock beating Old Priorians 52-24.

And T’s will now be looking to tighten their grip on sixth place with another hard fought win.

>SECOND-PLACED Canvey Island will be looking for a third straight win in Essex League One Premier when they travel to Billericay tomorrow.

The Islanders are currently three points clear of third placed Clacton and will be confident of seeing off Billericay, who sit bottom of the table.

Sixth placed Stanford le Hope are at home to Maldon.
