THURROCK triumphed in their final home game of the season, beating Sudbury 43-28.

The win came despite T’s missing a number of key players.

And their director of rugby Dean White was thrilled to secure the victory.

“With 10 players missing on Saturday this could of been a banana skin for us but our performance was very encouraging for next season as a number of young players stepped up to the mark,” said White.

“Sudbury threw everything at us as they had nothing to lose but our attack at times was outstanding.

“We made a number of great opportunities and could have scored a few more but for the neutral spectators this was a great game with both sides throwing the ball about.

“We now have just one more game to complete this season and then we look forward to a very exciting pretty season.”

Thurrock are now guaranteed to end the London One North campaign sitting in sixth.

But White is keen for T’s to progress ahead of next season.

“The club have big plans and a new head coach should be unveiled within the next few weeks and, with the addition of the new artificial grass pitch, these are exciting times,” said White.

“We want Thurrock to be the place to be and look to grow the game county wide.”
