SEEVIC Storm Rugby Academy are celebrating an incredible year of rugby success.

The Thundersley based youngsters have been crowned AoC Eastern Region Sevens champions, AoC Premier League winners, Essex County Schools’ Rugby Union KO Shield champions and AoC National Sevens gold medallists.

On top of that, Seevic were AoC Premier Play Off Final silver medallists and also made the quarter-finals of the NatWest Vase competition, much to the delight of their head of rugby Danny Cleare.

“It has been another successful season and the programme is improving each year,” said Cleare.

“All the players have been committed throughout the year, which has shown in our results.

“All the boys have shown strong commitment and have all encouraged each other to work harder and to a higher standard.

“It has been a pleasure to work with the team this year and see them all come so far since starting out at Seevic.

“I would like to thank all the students leaving this year and wish them the best of luck.

“I am looking forward to working with those staying on next year for what we hope to be another successful season.”

And Seevic skipper Ed Ashcroft was also full of praise for his side, who have been able to shine on a consistent basis this term.

“We have come a long way as a team and compared to last year it has been fantastic,” said Ashcroft.

“We had 11 unbeaten games in a row in the first term, which is a great achievement, and the coaches have really pushed us to our boundaries.

“Our strength and conditioning has really improved which has helped us to be a more dynamic team and physically match some of the best teams in the country.

“With all the wins this year I have been proud to be the captain and it is something that I will always remember.

“All the boys have pulled together and I am proud of each and everyone one of them.

“I have made some great friends for life and we have made Seevic history together which is an amazing achievement.

“Without everyone’s support we would not be able to be as successful as we have and the team will always be grateful for this.

“Danny Cleare and Harry Hudson have not only helped us to develop as players but as people too.”
