ENGLAND international Sally Tuson will lead a brand new women’s rugby team at Seevic College.

Females at the college will have the opportunity to train and play women’s rugby, alongside their course, and represent Seevic Storm.

And Tuson, who has played at Premiership clubs including Bristol and Saracens as well as Thurrock T-Birds, cannot wait to take control.

“I am extremely excited to start, it’s basically my dream job – to work in a sport that has given me so much,” said Tuson.

“Rugby is something I am very passionate about.

“To have the opportunity to grow and develop grassroots rugby is amazing and I’m really looking forward to it.

“My biggest aim is to encourage other girls and women to get involved in a sport that is so rewarding. That’s definitely something I will be looking to do.”

Tuson studied a BSc in Criminology and Education at Cardiff University, where she developed her love for rugby.

That meant she was a late starter but that has not held her back. Tuson won ‘Most Improved Player and Players’ Player’ along with Bristol’s ‘Most Improved Player’ in two successive seasons.

She also represented England in the full 15-a-side format and in sevens and during that time went on tours to New Zealand, Spain, France, Italy and competed in two Six Nations tournaments.

But Tuson is now focusing on helping others to shine.

“This is an opportunity for all female students to try a new sport, meet new people and compete across the UK,” she added.

Seevic’s men’s side have enjoyed sustained success in recent seasons and the females will now be bidding for more of the same.
