LONDON Three Essex leaders Basildon head to Braintree for an intriguing top of the table clash tomorrow.

Third placed Braintree are just a point behind Basildon.

But Basildon head coach Mark Cushi insists his players will be well organised for what promises to be a close match.

“We will work hard in training to make sure we have our game plan established for this particular match,” said Cushi.

“With players back from injury and quality new players joining us mid-season, we make sure every player knows what’s expected from them if they get selected.”

Second row forwards Ian Stewart and Rob Jones are both back in contention after returning to full training, while Basildon have also brought in Justin Allen from Southend.

“Justin played 80 minutes in a third team outing to gain some much needed game time,” said Cushi.

“He’s 6 foot 10 inches tall and he’s eager to impress, so he’s sure to make an impact.”

Basildon also have centre Aaron Beach available this weekend along with winger Levi Caulson.

Caulson has already touched down five times this season and will hope to add to that tally tomorrow against a Braintree side who Cushi expects to be tough opposition.

“Braintree have had an excellent return to league rugby,” said Cushi.

“They’re sitting in third and have scored more points than us but we will approach this fixture in the same fashion as we approach every match.”
