MARK Billings bagged another four tries to help Rochford Hundred thrash Epping Upper Clapton 72-5.

The victory made it 10 London Two North East victories in a row for the unbeaten league leaders.

And Hundred’s first team manager Graham Pratt was quick to praise his side’s performance.

“We outplayed and out-skilled our much bigger opponents and although it was not a vintage performance there was plenty to savour with some outstanding individual displays to keep a huge crowd happy,” said Pratt.

“Most notable of all was our full back Mark Billings, who was at his imperial best scoring four tries and generally causing havoc whenever he got the ball.

“But there was another powerful game from Adam Ferrier, with three tries, and a sterling performance from Tom Pickering, who scored two tries that were the icing on the cake.”

Rochford began brightly at Magnolia Road and opened the scoring with an early try from captain Matt Stewart, which he was also able to convert.

Moments later, Craig Strachan also touched down and Stewart’s conversion made it 14-0.

Flanker Ferrier was the next to score before two tries in quick succession from the in-form Billings put Hundred 31-0 ahead at half-time.

After the break, Rochford continued to dominate the set-pieces but the game became more of a fraught affair and a number of niggling incidents broke up the rhythm of the game.

However, Rochford soon got back on track and scored a further seven tries in the final quarter of a one-sided contest.

Ferrier touched down to complete his hat-trick before Billings scored twice more to take his try scoring tally in the league to 15 this season.

Pickering also touched down twice before Stuart Whatling scored, but Rochford were to be denied a third successive clean sheet as Epping bagged a consolation try.

Rochford have now scored 630 points in their 10 league games this season and sit five points clear of second placed Wanstead.
