TABLE-TOPPING Basildon host East London in London Three Essex tomorrow looking to continue their push for the title.

Basildon head into the game on the back of nine successive wins. But they were forced to dig deep against Upminster last weekend and first team manager Mark Farrell is now demanding an improved display.

“Coach Mark Cushi has demanded more urgency, power and tenacity after last week’s under par performance against Upminster,” said Farrell.

“Training on Tuesday night was ramped up another notch as the players worked hard in full contact targeting the breakdown areas.

“The players needed no extra incentive knowing the very real threat East London will provide in Saturday’s game.

“And I think the match has the hallmarks of being a titanic battle.”

Basildon dug deep to beat fourth placed East London 22-19 back in October and will now be looking to complete the double.

And Farrell is happy to be heading into the clash with no new injury concerns.

“We have had no injuries reported from the Upminster game and we have also got the advantage of several key players returning to full training,” said Farrell.

“Second row forward Bradley Day, was a welcome figure in training on Tuesday and so was centre Aaron Beach.

“It was also good to see back row forward Mitchell Cairns out there as he works towards a return to first team rugby.”
