WESTCLIFF’S Ewan Binneman is excited to be facing league leaders Guernsey this weekend.
Guernsey are currently six points clear at the top of the London & SE Premier Division standings.
But prop forward Binneman is looking forward to Saturday’s clash, even though he knows it will be an extremely difficult encounter.
“Playing a team as well drilled as Guernsey home or away is always going to be a tough ask,” said Binneman.
“I’m expecting a really hard physical game played at a very fast pace.
“Going into a game like this is never easy but playing them at home makes it exciting as we’ve beaten them before at our place.
“If we play like we know we can then there is nothing stopping us from causing a upset.”
Westcliff head into tomorrow’s clash sitting fifth in the standings.
However, last time out they were beaten 19-12 by fourth placed Hertford.
And Binneman is keen to forget the disappointing defeat.
“Last week is one to forget and never talk about again,” said Binneman.
“Yes you can look into the game for pros and cons but it didn’t go our way.
“The game was scrappy and the calls from the ref were sometimes questionable both ways.
“That made it hard to get our game going,”
But Binneman is hoping for a different outcome tomorrow.
“We won’t take a lot from last week but we start again now and we want to build on what we’ve got and make sure we prepare correctly,” said Binneman.
“I think the team will be eager to get on the pitch and give our loyal support a good spectacle.”
