BASILDON skipper Jim Harman does not expect his table-topping side to take victory for granted at Mavericks this afternoon.

The London Three leaders head into the game on the back of 12 successive wins.

But Harman has now set his sights on avoiding an unlucky 13th game as Basildon visit the team second from bottom in the table.

“I’m not really expecting complacency,” said the Basildon skipper.

“We’ve had some hiccups and near misses of late so we know that to write them off would be perilous.

“We’re not going to be Trojan-horsed or cat-fished.

“We’ve got to play our game and take whatever chances we manufacture.”

Basildon go into the game nine points clear at the top of the table with just three games to go.

And they will also be heading into the encounter in a confident frame of mind after beating third-placed Braintree 20-7 last weekend.

“It was a hard fought game on Saturday,” said Harman.

“The conditions prevented us being more expansive and really stretching a lead out while we were so dominant.

“Our pack were well on top and it was a little disappointing to not come away with the maximum five points.

“On paper this was the big game as it was first against third.

“However it’s the next two back-to-back away games against resurgent Mavericks and Clacton I feel will give us the sterner tests.”

Mavericks have won two of their last three games and Harman is expecting another tough afternoon.

“They are coming off possibly their best result of the season fighting for their lives at the bottom of the table,” said Harman.

“We’re going to have to earn every point and we’ve been training hard.”
