LONDON Two North East leaders Rochford Hundred head to Epping Upper Clapton tomorrow looking for a 19th successive league win.

Rochford are currently seven points clear at the top of the division. But second row Luke Court-Rhind is expecting another difficult clash this weekend.

“Epping are just like every other team and they will have their sights set on being the team to beat us,” said Court-Rhind.

“We will be taking nothing lightly as our demand for excellence only increases.

“We not only want to go undefeated this season but, looking forward, we want to do the same next season in the league above.”

Rochford have scored 1,037 points in their 18 games so far this season and have conceded just 146 points, meaning they have the best attack and defence in the division.

And Court-Rhind was frustrated not to be able to add to that tally last weekend as Rochford’s scheduled clash at Harlow was postponed because of the poor weather.

“Having the game called off was pretty frustrating as it was the second time it’s happened and it may extend our season now,” said Court-Rhind.

“It would have been nice to wrap up this season on home turf against Sudbury but that’s not going to happen.”

Rochford need two more wins to seal the title and Court-Rhind has relished the season so far.

“The season has been really enjoyable as everyone gets on so well except for Danny Cleare who has tried to come back into the team at the end of the season to try claim all the glory!” he added.
