JACKSON Wray is determined to build on Saracens’ ‘memorable’ 24-11 win against Harlequins.

The ex-King John School pupil played a key part in Saracens triumphing at the London Stadium.

And, as a keen West Ham United supporter, Wray was delighted to win at the home of the Hammers.

“It was a special day playing at West Ham’s ground and also where the Olympics was held,” said Wray.

“It’s obviously a ground I’ve been to a few times and it was wicked for me to be able to play there.

“Growing up, I always wanted to be able to play at West Ham’s ground and it would have been better if it was Upton Park.

“But Saturday was still very special for me and it’s an afternoon I’ll never forget, especially as we won.

“However, we need to be able to build on that now.”

Saturday’s clash was the first in the Premiership to be played at the London Stadium and attracted a crowd of more than 55,000.

Saracens were able to come out on top thanks to tries from Liam Williams and Maro Itoje, plus the boot of Alex Lozowski.

But Wray has now turned his attentions towards this weekend’s tough looking European Champions Cup quarter-final clash at Leinster.

“It’s a very big game we have coming up next and it will be a difficult one too but we’ll prepare well,” said Wray.

“We know they’re a strong side but we’re looking forward to the challenge.

“We started really well against Harlequins at the weekend and unfortunately we couldn’t quite carry that on.

“But we still got the win so we will be going into the game on a high.”

Saracens have been crowned European champions for the past two seasons but will need to be at their very best to triumph in Ireland on Sunday.

Closer to home, the Londoners sit second in the Premiership standings and Wray is determined to end the season on a high.

“We want to get into the Champions Cup semi-finals and then secure a home semi-final in the Premiership too,” said Wray.

“We’ll take another look at things then but that’s what we’re aiming to achieve at the moment and we’ll be doing all we can.”
