SEEVIC College’s rugby team have surged through to the semi-finals of the AoC Premier League play-offs.

Seevic saw off Bishop Burton in the last eight of the national competition.

But their director of rugby Danny Cleare is still hungry for more.

“We are delighted to be in the semi-finals of another national competition, but we’re not satisfied because we want more,” said Cleare.

“Our record in this competition has been excellent in the last three years and we’re pleased to be continuing it.

“In the last two years we have made the final and we’re in the semi-final now this year so we’re proud of what we’ve done.

“But we aren’t thinking about that at the moment because we want to make sure we get through to the final.”

Seevic’s rugby teams have enjoyed incredible success in recent seasons, winning at both county and national level.

And Cleare is pleased to see this season’s side continuing the good run of results.

“The boys have been doing really well again and I’m pleased with them,” said Cleare.

“We play in the AoC Premier League, so it is the highest level we can play at.

“In order to get to the semi-finals we had to win our Regional Premier League and then went through to a national quarter-final play-off, which we also won.

“Overall, we’ve played six league games and a quarter-final in the competition so far and have won every game we have competed in.”

Seevic will now be aiming to make it seven wins in a row when they face Hartpury seconds in the semi-final later this month.

The tie will be played at Rochford Hundred’s Magnolia Road.

And Cleare is pleased with the tie.

“We have Hartpury seconds in the semi-final, which is the best draw we could have had in my opinion, especially as we’re at home,” said Cleare.

“The other semi-final is Hartpury firsts against Coleg Y Cymoedd.

“They are the Welsh champions who beat us in both previous finals and they are a very good side.

“But Hartpury seconds will still be a tough game.

“They still had to qualify from their league and then beat Myerscough Aase Academy away in Manchester so that shows they’re a strong side too.

“We’re looking forward to facing them and I’m sure it will be another good game at this late stage of a strong competition.”
