ROCHFORD Hundred kicked off their London Two North East title winning celebrations with a 31-17 win against Sudbury.

The victory made it 21 league triumphs in a row for the unbeaten league leaders.

And head coach Michael Guess was quick to praise his players after another memorable afternoon at Magnolia Road.

“Saturday was a great day at the club, for so many reasons,” said Guess.

“We got given the shield for winning the league in front of all the home supporters and sponsors.

“We also walked out through the club house to the pitch with everyone there which was nice.

“It was our last home game of the season which is always a big day at the club and we got five points from a very tough game.

“All in all it was a pretty awesome day. “

The victory put Rochford 12 points clear at the top of the table with one game still left to play.

And Guess is proud of his side’s unbeaten run of results.

“I’m very proud of everyone involved both on and off the field this year,” said Guess.

“The lads have put so much effort and dedication in to try and achieve what we have done and I’m just so happy they have got what they all wanted. T

“The coaches have all done a fantastic job this year and the stats show it.

“They have worked very hard behind the scenes to make this achievable and I can’t thank them enough.

“The admin side you don’t really see but the guys we have at that club do a fantastic job working with me and Chris Green.

“That alone can be a task at times but they all get on with it to give us the best chance of succeeding.”

However, Guess insists Rochford will not be resting on their laurels.

And he is keen to see them secure more success in London One North next season.

“We know the hard work doesn’t stop here because as a club we are very ambitious and know where we what to go,” said Guess.

“We also know what it takes to accomplish that.

“The lads deserve a good rest and time out from rugby.

“But after that they can come back to pre season ready to go again and have a go at London One.

“We want more days like Saturday and the celebrations were good too, although it’s fair to say I can’t really remember much!”

However, Guess can still recall the actual game and was happy to sign off at home with another win against their nearest rivals in the table.

“ There was a bad five minute spell where a certain player thought he was Ronaldo and very quickly realised he wasn’t,” laughed Guess.

“But we were very happy to get the win and the five points.”

Tom Corbet bagged two tries for Rochford in the win while Steven Jay, Tom Ashton and Adam Ferrier also touched down.
