TOM Ashton wants Rochford Hundred to end their title winning season unbeaten with a win at Harlow this afternoon.

Rochford have already been crowned London Two North East champions having secured 21 league wins in succession.

But Ashton is determined to keep the good run going with another victory in Rochford’s final game of the campaign this weekend.

“We have a really motivated group of lads at the club who will be focused on finishing the job of not dropping a point all season,” said Ashton, who has been playing at centre for Rochford.

“We might already have won the league but that won’t affect our desire to win.

“We showed that against Sudbury last weekend and I’m sure we will show it again on Saturday."

Rochford saw off second placed Sudbury 31-17 last time out to move 12 points clear at the top of the table.

But Ashton is keen to stretch that gap with another win he believes could also see Hundred make history.

“I’m not sure if winning every game with the bonus point has ever been done before but if we do it tomorrow then that’s what we will have achieved,” said Ashton.

“It would be a fantastic achievement and I am really proud of the work the whole squad and the coaching staff have put in this year. It’s been great to be a part of it all.”

Rochford have bagged points galore in their winning run this season and have now amassed 1, 214 points in their 21 games.

However, Ashton believes fifth placed Harlow will be keen to cause an upset in Saturday's rearranged fixture.

“Harlow will be aiming to ruin our unbeaten season so it will be a tough test,” said Ashton, who returned to Rochford from Southend Saxons at the start of the season.

“But we have had a target on our backs from the very start and have dealt with every challenge.

“I don’t see Saturday being any different as long as we are professional with our attitude and stick to the script which I’m sure is something we will do.”

Harlow could be short of confidence this weekend too having been beaten in their last eight games, a run which stretches back to January.

However, Rochford will head into the game without Danny Cleare and Matt Needham who are both away with Seevic College’s rugby team this weekend.

Another bonus point win for a rampant Hundred will see them win the league by an impressive 17 points before they line up in London One North next term.
