WESTCLIFF skipper Harry Branch is keen to end his club’s ‘best ever season’ on a high this weekend.

Westcliff are guaranteed a sixth place finish in the London & SE Premier Division whatever the outcome of Saturday's game against Dorking at the Gables.

But Branch is still determined to finish with a win.

“This season has been the best in the club’s history but we want to make sure we win the last game of it now,” said Branch.

“This is the highest the club has ever finished which is great and I’m very proud to have been the captain of this side for the last two-and-a-half years.

“This year has gone really well and I think we have done better than we were expecting.

“But we’re focusing on making sure we win at the weekend.”

Westcliff have won 13 of their 25 games so far this season and will now be looking to add to that tally against eighth placed Dorking.

The game is expected to be watched by a large crowd with close to 150 members attending the pre-match lunch.

And Branch is keen to add to their enjoyment.

“I know there will be a lot of people watching as the last game is always a big day at the club so we want to put on a good performance,” said Branch.

“There’s going to be sunshine and hard tracks this weekend which I think is perfect for rugby so we want to make sure we finish on a high by getting another good win.”

Westcliff will also be looking to bounce back from last weekend’s disappointing 40-12 defeat at Hertford.
