ROCHFORD Hundred ended their perfect London Two North East campaign with a 66-12 win at Harlow.

The triumph meant champions Rochford were victorious in all 22 of their league games this season while also picking up every bonus point available.

And winger Mitchell Bennett - who scored a hat-trick of tries in the win - felt it was the best possible way to finish a memorable campaign.

“Saturday’s game was the perfect end to the season,” said Bennett.

“We had a couple of boys making their first team debut and they both played outstandingly, which is a true testament to our strength in depth.

“Finishing off the season unbeaten meant everything to both the coaches and the players.

“All year we have worked unbelievably hard and sacrificed so much to get to where we are now.”

However, Bennett was keen to point out it had been a squad effort.

“Winning every game has pleased the whole team but throughout the year we haven’t played the same team in every game,” said Bennett.

“We’ve had different players coming through, who have all proved that no position in the team is a given and I think that’s definitely been a big part in us doing so well.”

Rochford will now line up in London One North next season.

And Bennett insists Hundred will be eager to keep on impressing.

“Building on an unbeaten season will be hard but with how determined the team was to have such a successful season this year, I have no doubt in my mind that that determination will be carried on for future seasons to come,” said Bennett.

“Everyone is looking forward to what happens next.”

Rochford broke the deadlock with an early try from scrum half Ricki Gould before Bennett bagged his first try of the game.

Harlow soon hit back with a try of their own, but Rochford immediately regained control with Luke Court-Rhind touching down before Mark Billings bagged another hat-trick.

After the break, the impressive Bennett bagged two more tries to also complete a hat-trick of his own before Sam Edwards and Craig Strachan touched down to ensure Rochford won the league by 17 points in a perfect domestic campaign.
