SOUTHEND Rugby Club are again aiming to get the better of high flying Old Albanians at Warners Bridge tomorrow.

The Seasiders were the last side to beat Albanians, back in October, when they won 33-22.

And the club’s director of rugby Chris Green now wants to complete what would be an impressive double.

“Old Albanians are having a great season but we beat them before and hope to go and do it again,” said Green.

“They haven’t actually lost since we beat them before and they’ve been on a brilliant run.

“But we’ve had a great record against them over the years and I’m sure they will be worried about playing us.”

Old Albanians have won their last 13 matches and sit just five points behind league leaders Henley.

They will be wanting to continue their push for promotion with another win.

And a bumper crowd is expected to be seeing them in action.

Southend chiefs have decided to put kick off back to 6pm.

And Green is sure that will lead to about 500 fans being in attendance.

“I wouldn’t be disappointed if we got less than that and we will definitely look to have more later games,” said Green.

“They enable more people to come along, include our players from the other teams at the club so we’re looking forward to tomorrow.”

Southend have centre Chris Vaughan and number eight Joe Van Der Molen back in contention after being unavailable last weekend for the 33-29 triumph over Taunton.

That kept the Seasiders 10th in the table and they are now looking for a successful end to the season.

“It hasn’t been a great year for us by any stretch of the imagination but hopefully we can finish with a good run,” said Green.

“We have seven games left and want to get as many good results as we can.”

Echo readers can also see tomorrow’s game for a reduced rate by taking along the voucher printed in today's copy of the newspaper.

Youngsters aged 16 and under can gain free entry with the voucher while adults can watch the action for £6 rather than £8.
