Victory vital to boost Rochford survival bid
6:22pm Friday 13th April 2012 in Rugby Union
Rochford host Ruislip in their final home game of the season needing a victory to keep alive their survival hopes.
Rochford are currently just one place and one point above North Walsham, who occupy the last safe position in London One North.
But Walsham seem certain to win this weekend as they entertain rock-bottom Braintree. And Rochford’s first team manager Graham Pratt is therefore also keen for his team to come out on top.
“I think we need to obtain maximum points from this match to stay in the frame for league survival,” said Pratt. “North Walsham are playing Braintree, which seems a banker for them, but we were unlucky not to win at Ruislip earlier in the season, so hopefully we can beat them tomorrow.”
Ruislip are eighth but Rochford will be boosted by the return of flankers Andy Baker and Darren Spencer and winger Nick Brown.
Already-relegated Canvey Island travel to seventh-placed Chelmsford and, in London Three North East, South Woodham Ferrers, who are also seventh, are at home to third-from-bottom Campion.
In Essex One, third-placed Billericay host second-from-bottom Pegasus Palmerians.
And, in Essex Two, bottom-of-the-table Stanford le Hope head to Kings Cross Steelers.
