THE Appleton School are celebrating a season of success for sport this week, after their Year 7 girls netball team were crowned undefeated champions of the Castle Point & Rochford Schools netball league.
Debbie Jenkins, who runs the team, said: “All year the girls have shown a tremendous attitude to their training and matches. The fantastic results they’ve achieved are testament to this. They’ve great team spirit which they demonstrate while playing.”
The team was: Olivia Rowney, Poppy Herd, Alice Rider, Molly Toner, Millie Bradshaw, Grace Sullivan, Madison Green, Casey McLean The school has seen a vast amount of success across numerous sports, with their under-12s girls basketball team reaching the semi-final of the Essex Cup in their first season.
Their Year 10 boys football team finished runners in the South East Essex Cup and the Year 7 boys team reached the semi-final.
Matthew Stevens-Brown was third in the Year 7 Essex Schools Cross-County Championships, while Teddy Warwick and Grace Goodall represented Castle Point & Rochford at the Junior Essex Schools Cross-Country.
Meanwhile, their Year 7 Boys Basketball team finished as runners up in the Castle Point and Rochford and District Final.
