Gala day celebration as shields are scooped


BILLERICAY’S Quilters County Junior School proved splash hits at the annual Basildon and District Primary Schools’ swim gala.

They were overall winners of the event.

And delighted youngsters also took the years five and six pool prizes.

Results: Year 5 — Boys’ front crawl: 1, Luke Becalick. Boys’ breaststroke:1, Oliver Knight. Boys’ butterfly: 4, Pierce Forkun. Girls front crawl: 2, Emily Drake. Girls backstroke: 3, Isabella Newsum. Girls Breaststroke: 1, Amie Bawa. Girls Butterfly: 1, Abigail Gouldstone.

Relay Boys: 1, Quilters (Luke Becalick,Thomas Penney, Jack Nicholls, Oliver Knight). Relay Girls: 1, Quilters (Abigail Gouldstone, Amie Bawa, Helena Moran and Emily Drake).

Year 6 - Boys Front Crawl: 1, Taylor Ross. Boys Backstroke: 2, Ben Goodman. Boys Breaststroke: 2, James Chappell. Girls Front Crawl: 3, Rosie Mesher.

Girls Breaststroke: 6, Amy Wang. Girls Butterfly: 1, Emma Roper. Relay Boys: 1, Quilters (Ewan Clarke, Elliot Halsey, Ben Goodman, Taylor Ross).

Relay Girls: 1, Quilters (Rosie Mesher, Kelly Mint, Poppy Sansom and Emma Roper).

The school paid tribute to swimming instructor Julie Cooper who coached the swimmer and helped them achieve their great performance.
