RAYLEIGH'S Sweyne Park entered the year eight Emerging Schools’ Rugby Shield tournament at Southend Rugby Club and came out triumphant.
The team have been training hard and have played a number of games throughout the year.
They performed superbly throughout the group stages and eventually went through to the semi-finals.
After a very tough match, where the boys defended like Trojans, they were rewarded with a place in the final.
The boys all battled hard, never gave up, and ran out two tries to nil winners over Wickford’s Bromfords School.
Simon Field, head of PE at the Sir Walter Raleigh Drive-based school, said: “The boys played superbly and were rewarded for all their effort — a fantastic achievement!”
