Bay stars are at home in Norfolk

THORPE Bay’s Alleyn Court again put on an excellent performance in the ISA regional cross-country championships at New Eccles Hall, Norfolk.

As a result, four of their pupils, Charlie Lockhart, Harrison Smith, Natasha May and Oceane Chandler, were selected to represent East Anglia in the national championships at Princethorpe College, Rugby, on February 26.

Meghan Samuels started the day with an outstanding run in winning the year four girls’ race.

Backed by E Butt (4th), A Thompson (5th), J Goody (7th), I Wilcox (14th) and L Streeton (17th) the team finished first with the lowest points score of the day (17).

The year four boys were third with 68 points through T Chandler (8th), L McNamara (18th), H Bashford (19th),A Bacon (20th) and D Smith (20th).

The years five and six boys’ team from the Thorpe Bay based school was one of their stroinbgest to date.

Unfortunately, there was a marshalling error and lead runners were sent the wrong way. However, Charlie Lockhart (year five) put in a superb performance and was awarded first place.

Harrison Smith ran very well to be placed third but due to the mistake team scorers were not counted. That was a shame as Court would undoubtedly have achieved first place. Rest of the team was M Cox, J Bryan, H Shields and R Pinkerton. The year five and six girls were led home to regional victory on 37 points by Natasha May, who was second. Other s: 8, O Chandler, 13, S Rankin, 14, B Findlay, 16, E Healy.
