PUPILS from Eastwood Academy will be rubbing shoulders with sporting stars during the Olympic Games this summer.
A team of 10 pupils from the Rayleigh Road school will be acting as liason officers for the world’s media at the mountain bike races at Hadleigh Farm.
The youngsters will be in action on Saturday, August 11, and Sunday, August 12, after a successful application to the Olympics organisers.
“I am immensely proud of the achievement of this group of pupils,” said headteacher Neil Houchen.
“Having the opportunity to contribute at the front line in this unique sporting event, I’m quite sure, is an aspiration of many young people.”
The pupils’ route to the Games started in October with an application to LOCOG, which was followed by various interviews earlier this month at Canary Wharf in East London.
