Champions — the boys basketball team from Eastwood Academy will be representing Essex in the national schools final next month after being crowned county champions.

The team from the Rayleigh Road school defeated Great Baddow in their semi-final before beating Brentwood’s St Martin’s 39-18 in the final of the Essex County Winter Games in Harlow.

“The boys are aiming high this season as they attempt to retain their district crown for a third season and win the Essex Schools title in March,” said Eastwood deputy head Scott Maclean.
