Southend swimmers dominate at Square
THE annual Southend Borough senior schools' swim gala at Warrior Square provided its usual domination for the two Southend High Schools.
They collected overall victory in both the girls and boys sections
For the boys, Southend High retained the trophy for the fifth consecutive year, beating off a good challenge from much improved Shoeburyness High by 14 points.
Southend High also won the relay trophy and the final blue riband event, the Squadron relay - a vertical relay for years seven to 11.
As previously reported, Shoebury enjoyed much-improved results and were second overall.
Shoebury's swimming co-ordinator Toni Clarke said: "I would like to give a special thank you and congratulations to all those that participated in making this event another day for Shoebury to be proud of."
There was also success for Eastwood High who won the Co-Ed Shield - the Sarah Hardcastle relay - for the eighth year running.
Eastwood's Sean Tomlin won the champion boy swimmer award for the second year.
Sean also completed a unique Tomlin family success when he won the individual backstroke for the fifth consecutive year.
This follows his elder brother brother Craig who won the same title for five consecutive years previously.
