THE year six Westerings Primary School netball team have proved real gems under the backing of Hattons Jewellers from Leigh who have sponsored their new kit.

They agreed to sponsor the girls from Sunny Road, Hawkwell, after hearing how well they had been playing in the league this year.

Managed by year six teacher Lucy Canham, the girls currently have won all of their league matches with only one game outstanding.

And if they triumph in that they will be crowned league champions.

Canham said: "The team have worked extremely hard throughout training to improve on their performance and I am proud of them."

The team consists of: Katie Wagstaff, Chanel Adlington, Christie Bailey, Erin Davies, Lucy Kitto, Zoe Perrymen, Rhiannon Davies and Rebecca Grey.
