SOUTHEND United manager Steve Tilson saw his side pick up a point at Wycombe Wanderers last night and then insisted the Shrimpers should have taken all three.
A powerful header from Jean-Francois Christophe cancelled out Matt Harrold’s opener to secure Blues a 1-1 draw at Adams Park.
But Tilson felt Southend deserved to take more from the game.
“I felt we should have won because we were better than them,” said the Blues boss.
“We had the chances to get a victory and we should have had a penalty when Dougie Freedman got brought down inside the area.
“I can’t be too critical of the lads though because I felt they were excellent and if we keep on playing like that then we will win more games than we lose that’s for sure.
“The lads in midfield were all outstanding and John White at left-back was tremendous – individually we were the better team.”
The share of the spoils against the Chairboys was the Shrimpers’ third successive league draw after they were also held by Huddersfield Town and Walsall.
And Tilson knows his team could easily have won all three games.
“We’ve had the chances to have got nine points out of nine,” said Tilson.
“We could be right up there at the moment but we're still unbeaten and that's the most encouraging thing for me.”
Goalscorer Christophe also felt Blues should have won but he was pleased to have opened his account for the season after heading home a well worked Franck Moussa corner.
“It was something we had been working on so it was great to see it pay off,” said the Frenchman.
“We went through it all in training and hopefully we can keep on doing it because we are a big side and can cause problems from those situations.”
Southend’s next game is against Millwall this Friday and Christophe is desperate to finally get a victory.
“The team spirit is still good here we’re playing well and want a win now,” he added.
