WICKFORD'S Tennis Club’s new artificial grass courts ensured that wet weather did not put a dampener on Sunday’s finals day.
Michael Allen won his first senior title, defeating Tony Forster 7-5 6-4 in the men’s singles plate.
In the ladies’ plate singles, it took three sets for Tricia Goddard to beat Glynis Exley. The score was 7-6 4-6 6-3.
In the main ladies’ singles final, perennial winner Karen Poole was victorious over Mikki Allen by a 6-2 6-3 scoreline.
The men’s singles saw Alexis Van Costenobel defeat Ken Poole 6-2 6-3.
Van Costenobel scored another win in the men’s doubles. He partnered Ken Ellis to a 6-2 6-2 victory over Dave Goodman and Tim Young.
Finally, The Warrick Cup Mixed Doubles was won by Ken Ellis and Kay Debenham. They defeated Lynsey Read and Michael Allen 4-6 7-6 6-1.
