WESTCLIFF Lawn’s ladies’ and men’s teams have won promotion to the top flight of Essex cup tennis next summer.
The ladies’ first team defeated Connaught II 3-1 to win the Ladies’ Intermediate Cup and earn promotion to the Senior Cup for 2016.
And although the men’s first team lost 3-1 to Great Baddow I in the Men’s Intermediate Cup final, they too will be playing in the Senior Cup next year.
The winning ladies’ team from the London Road club were Christie Brackett, Sarah Ball, Cally Flinders and Marg Rimmer.
Losing finalists – but Westcliff Lawn men’s first team have still been promoted
Club captain Steve Wynn, Dan Sanderson, Graham Goodale and Mark Gregory comprised the losing men’s team.
Olivia Sofroniou, who lives in Steeple View, was in the Connaught ladies’ first team which won the Ladies’ Senior Cup.
The Essex LTA Summer Cup finals were held at the Connaught club in Chingford on Sunday.
RESULTS: Men’s Senior Cup: Woodford Wells I beat Virgin Active Clearview I 4-0. Connaught I beat Grove (Saffron Walden) I 4-0. Men’s Intermediate Cup: Great Baddow I beat Westcliff Lawn I 3-1. Ladies’ Intermediate Cup: Westcliff Lawn I beat Connaught II 3-1. Men’s Junior Div 1 Cup: Connaught II beat Raphael Park I 3-1. Men’s Junior Div II Cup: Frinton I beat David Lloyd Gidea Park III 3-1.
