SARAH Ball had a busy day at Southend & District LTA’s summer finals on Sunday.

The Westcliff Lawn player contested four showdowns and won three of them.

Ball won the ladies’ doubles, over-35 doubles and veteran doubles at Westcliff Hardcourts.

But she lost out to Emily Watts in the ladies’ singles as the Rayleigh player retained the trophy she won last year in straight sets.

Westcliff Hard’s Matt Pearce regained the men’s singles he last won in 2012 by defeating club-mate Gianluca Broadley in straight sets.

Broadley missed out on more silverware in the men’s doubles where he and Paul Clark were beaten by Hadleigh Park pairing Ben Clow and Jack Vile, who won their first S&D title in a close-fought final.

Clow won his second title partnering Westcliff Lawn’s Christie Hale to mixed doubles success.

Hale also collected a brace of trophies having partnered Ball to ladies’ doubles success.

Rayleigh’s Steve Higgins retained his men’s veteran singles crown when Hockley rival Duncan Smith was forced to retire in the second set through injury.
