IT was a case of honours even when Westcliff Hardcourts III and Kent Elms II locked horns in Ladies’ Division Three.
Both teams were hunting for the points to strengthen their challenge in a fairly tight division that sees leaders Westcliff Lawn seven points ahead.
Both rubbers at Westcliff Hard went to three sets before the match finished in a 3-3 draw, with the hosts at Elms collecting a trio of points each.
Hard got off to a good start as Vicky Edmunds and Rosie Smith claimed the first set 6-4, but Elms’ Judith Chambers and Pat Townsley hit back to claim the second set 6-4 before winning with a 6-3 score in the third.
Gaye Caulket and Sandy Phillips took the first set for Hard in the second rubber.
And despite Brenda Lincoln and Dawn Collins winning the second 6-4, the Hard pair won the final set 6-2 to square the Leigh & Westcliff LTA match.
