MORE than 100 Year 1 and 2 students enjoyed the first ever Key Stage One Racquets Festival at Deanes School.
Pupils from Westwood Academy, Grove Wood, Edward Francis, Thundersley Primary, Kingston Primary and Woodham Ley Primary School all enjoyed a carousel of activities relating to badminton, tennis and table-tennis.
And partnership development manager Steve Bish was pleased the day was such a success.
“It was great to see so many young children enjoying racquet sports,” said Bish.
“The involvement of professional coaches from the world of tennis, badminton and table-tennis in the Festival for Castle Point and Rochford School Sport Partnership has meant a clear exit route for those students wishing to take up the sports in the future.”
The event at the school in Daws Heath Road, Thundersley, was sponsored by Original Sports and was only made possible by the contribution from 20 Year 10 leaders from Deanes School.
The festival is now expected to run again next year.
