SOUTH East Essex-based tennis fans have been heading up to Wimbledon to see the game’s top stars in action.
Keen Southend United supporter Rob Eves saw world number one Novak Djokovic in action against Viktor Troicki on Centre Court.
And Eves thoroughly enjoyed the occasion.
“It was brilliant,” said Eves. “The atmosphere inside the stadium was electric, with most people supporting the underdog, Troicki.
“I thought Troicki played well but the better players like Djokovic don’t even need to play well to win.
“The whole day out at Wimbledon was excellent though, with many activities going on throughout the day.
“It was great to watch the up-and-coming youngsters on the outside courts too and if you can manage to get down to Wimbledon by 7am at the latest to queue, then I would definitely recommend going there to anyone.”
Shoebury-based 17-year-old Oliver Smith echoed those sentiments and thoroughly enjoyed his own day at Wimbledon. “It was brilliant,” said Smith. “It was great to see so many games and I’d definitely like to go back.”
