Westcliff Hardcourts’ Darien Lamb won the under-14s title at the Gidea Park tournament.
Lamb had three tough rounds before playing Will Thomson (Connaught) in the final. He lost the first set and trailed in the second just nicking it in the tiebreak and then won the third set championship fairly comfortably.
Max Chesher (Westcliff Hardcourts) in the 16 and under event also had some tough rounds to get through. He won a long semi-final against Levi Lowe-Lennon (Connaught) just beating him in the championship tie-break. He then played, Harry Melliush (Harlow) in the final, winning in two close sets.
Joanna Rimmington (Hockley) played brilliantly in the girls under-16 event despite being only 12 years old, winning two of her matches against older opponents.
The boys 18 and under was played as a round robin, where Nick Carscadden beat Levi Lowe-Lennon (Connaught) in another highly competitive game.
Matthew Basham (Westcliff Hardcourt) was a very creditable third in the boys 12 and under event.
