KENT Elms II's ladies made Division Two leaders Hockley fight all the away for their 4-1 win.

Hockley sit top of the table on sets for difference while Elms are bottom of the table and set to be relegated.

But they made light of that with a spirited performance against their high-flying visitors.

Pat Townsley and Margaret Ward battled hard before losing 7-5 7-5 to Hockley's Maria Baker and Hannah Bardell.

It was a similar story with Brenda Lincoln and Marilyn Sharples who claimed a set during their close 5-7 7-6 6-7 defeat to Keely Herring and Julie Birrel.

Roger Davies was the toast of the players when Westcliff Hard II drew 2-2 with Thorpe Bay II in Men's Division Two.

With the bar at the Hardcourts closed, Davies nipped home to bring back some beers to refresh his fellow players.
