Ladies’ winning start
THE LTA National Club League has got underway with mixed fortunes for Thorpe Bay and Westcliff Hard.
Thorpe's ladies got their campaign off to a winning start with an 8-4 victory over Harpenden in Nation-al Division One Group F.
Helen Parish, Mel Hall, Sara Needham and Ashlee Tyrrell won the singles 3-1 and halved the doubles for a 4-2 win, with each rubber being worth two points, thus the 8-4 scoreline.
Westcliff Hard's men also enjoyed an 8-4 win over Essex rivals Woodford Wells in National Division One Group F.
But there was disappointment for Thorpe Bay's men in National Division Two Group R as they were beaten 12-0 by Muswell Hill Methodist.
The teams are in action again on Sunday in the second round.
