SOUTHEND United will play West Ham United on Tuesday at Roots Hall in a pre-season friendly.

Hammers boss Avram Grant will be bringing his full first team squad for the match, which kick's off at 7.45pm on August 3.

Among the players travelling with the Irons to Southend will be Robert Green and Matthew Upson, who were in England's World Cup squad, and Basildon-based defender James Tomkins.

Blues boss Paul Sturrock agreed to the match with West Ham's coaching staff last night and it give Southend a final warm-up before they start their new League Two campaign at home to Stockport County on Saturday, August 7.

Tickets for this match have been priced at £10 for adults and £5 for concessions.

These are now on sale at the Blues box office on 08444 77 00 77 only to supporters who are already on Southend's database. Those fans that are already registered to purchase tickets online will be able to do so for this match.

West Ham United will be selling tickets for their supporters and Hammers fans should visit www.whufc.com for details on how they can obtain tickets.

Due to the short notice of this fixture fans will be required to collect any pre-purchased tickets on the night of the match.

Blues anticipate that queues will be lengthy and advise fans to have the ticket sent to their mobile phone as a Ticket-by-text to avoid any delays.

Tickets-by-text is available at no additional cost and works by sending a SMS bar-coded message to your mobile phone handset which can be read against the Roots Hall turnstiles to gain access.
