Traveller home at Hovefields in Wickford demolished by bailiffs
1:30pm Wednesday 19th November 2008 in Video
BAILIFFS demolished the remains of an illegally-built traveller home more than two years after the botched first attempt.
A heavy digger this morning smashed up an empty building and ripped up hardstanding at the home called Dunroamin in Hovefields Drive Wickford.
Basildon Council can’t touch the rest of the about 15 illegal plots at Hovefields because of a High Court injunction preventing further evictions until a Court of Appeal hearing next month.
The council started demolishing Dunroamin in October 2006, but a paperwork blunder meant not all the buildings, including a toilet block could legally be removed.
