BENFLEET Rotary Club is looking for new members as it attempts to shake off the image of a male-dominated club.
The club, which meets every Thursday evening, works to raise money for the local community and has links with clubs around the UK and the rest of the world.
Members pay a membership fee and must attend 60 per cent of meetings, but according to member Wilf Smith, it is a long way from a gentlemen’s dining club. He said: “Certainly they eat at their weekly meetings, but with a Lady President this year, and another to follow next year, they’re by no means male dominated. And if they acted their age, they’d all be 25 years old!”
