TWO Belfairs pupils were successful on a three-day hiking, orienteering competition in the Lake District.
Year 10 pupils John Reid and Charlie Wakeling joined 30 young people from across the county to take on the worst the Cumbrian hills could throw at them.
The adventurers are working towards the Rotary Youth Leadership Award and were among a dozen teenagers from Essex at the event last weekend.
Belfairs PE teacher Anthony Bees said: "We were all delighted when John and Charlie both made it into the last 12.
"They were based at High Row in Cumbria and spent four days hiking, orienteering, cycling and learning new leadership skills. They did really well."
An overall winner from the trip has yet to be announced.
The Rotary Youth Leadership Award was started by the International Rotary Club in Australia nearly 40 years ago, with the aim of developing leaders.
