A TEAM of volunteers has worked evenings and Sundays to paint the Peaceful Place charity shop in North Avenue, Southchurch.
The helpers, mostly women from the volunteer group that staffs and runs the shop, have just completed hours of updating the rented premises the charity took over at the beginning of last year.
They have removed partition walls, replaced cabinets and shelving with contributed material, and reorganised displays of goodies.
The shop’s first year’s takings for Peaceful Place largely funded a new, purpose-built, minibus to collect young-age dementia sufferers from their homes, to take them to and from the day centre, at St Luke’s Place, Rochford.
Now shop income is going towards the group’s building fund, aimed at providing assisted living accommodation for patients and partners in the community.
