ROCHFORD’S farmers’ market celebrates its eighth successful year on November 1, when it will be business as usual in the WI Hall in the Square between 9.30am and 2.30pm.

Maureen Vince, the market’s lead volunteer and parish council chairman, said: “The market has proved more popular than we ever expected. It’s all been down to hard work and retaining good suppliers.

“It is an excellent example of a small market, which is restricted by the size of the venue, but attracts local shoppers and those who are prepared to travel some distance to enjoy good quality produce from local suppliers.”

The range of goods available includes GM-free pork and quality meat, Indian savouries, herbs and plants.

Mrs Vince said: “Fresh vegetables have consistently remained one of the most popular purchases on offer and all suppliers bring ample stock which generally lasts until closing time.”
