A SPATE of ten burglaries took place across Southend, Castle Point and Rochford on Friday.

Items including cash, jewellery and a TV were taken from properties in Southend, Canvey, Hockley, Westcliff, Leigh and Rochford between 7.30am and 9.20pm on January 14.

Now police are appealing for anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious to get in touch.

Sgt Dave Browning, of the CID Target Team, said: “As a team, we deal on average with three burglaries a day across Southend, Rochford and Castle Point so to have ten reported in such a short space of time is highly unusual.”

The affected properties are in Hampton Gardens, Southend, Beaufort Street, Southend, Derek Gardens, Southend, Church Parade, Canvey, Genk Close, Canvey, Main Road, Hockley, Chalkwell Avenue, Westcliff, Briarwood Drive, Leigh, and two in Ashingdon Road, Rochford.
