THREE 15-year-old pupils from Southend have won awards at a ceremony covering schools in Southend and Basildon.
The Year 11 pupils at Futures Community College in South-church Boulevard were given awards at a recent award ceremony held by Prospects College in Southend and hosted by Craig Phillips from Channel 4’s Big Brother.
Steven Harvey won best attendee in Southend and was highly commended in the category of most improved learner in painting and decorating. He also won an award for outstanding achievement.
Wesley Veitch was named student of the year for the whole of Southend. He was also highly commended in the category of most improved learner in carpentry and joinery.
Ciaran Butler was named most improved learner in carpentry and joinery.
Christine Wicker, Futures co-ordinator, said: “All three should be extremely proud of their achievements.
“Each award was very well deserved and we congratulate them, especially as the competition was fierce and included schools across Basildon as well as Southend.”
