A PLAYGROUND in Eastwood has had £127,000 refurbishment thanks to the Lottery Fund.
The new play area at Eastwood Park, in Rayleigh Road, has been redesigned and refurbished with new equipment for children aged five to ten.
The revamped play area includes climbing frames, a balancing bar and a outdoor teaching area in marine and jungle themed play areas.
There is also an area for toddlers.
It was opened by Ann Robertson, Milton Ward councillor and play champion and Paul Toomey, deputy youth mayor.
Mrs Robertson said: “Play is important in the social and physical development of children and young people.”
Two other play areas have also been improved using the lottery funding with £126,000 for play equipment for older children and teenagers at Southchurch Park and £150,000 was spent on the youth yrea at Leigh marshes.
